Split Green Moong Pongal
INGREDIENTS:
Split green moong - 1 cup, soaked for 2 hrs
Rice - 1 cup, soaked for an hour
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon - 1 inch piece
Clove - 1
Garlic - 2 pods, minced
Ginger - 1 inch piece, grated
Onion - 1, finely chopped
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Select 'Saute' mode in Instant pot. Once hot, add ghee, cumin seeds and the spices. Then, ginger, garlic, onions and saute for a minute.
Next add in all the masala powders in the list and mix.
Then, add the green moong, rice and salt. Add 5 cups of water.
Secure the instant pot with the lid.
Now, cancel the saute mode.
Select the 'Pressure Cook' mode on low for 8 mins. This will start the cooking process.
Once done, allow the steam to release naturally.
When the floating valve drops, you can open the lid and mix well.
Garnish with coriander.
Enjoy the hot protein packed pongal!
